Submission Policies
Author Guidelines
For examples of the style and format of case studies that we consider to be ideal for the JAIB, please see these case studies published in the Harvard Business Review (HBR Store - Business Case Studies).
Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.
Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.
An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Editorial and Peer Review Process
- Submission of Manuscript:Authors submit their manuscript to the journal. The submission should align with the journal's focus on the intersection of business and artificial intelligence.
- Initial Editorial Assessment:The editor-in-chief or an associate editor initially assesses the manuscript for its suitability, relevance to the journal’s scope, and adherence to submission guidelines. If it meets the initial criteria, it is sent for peer review.
- Selection of Reviewers:The editor selects expert reviewers who have significant knowledge in the relevant fields of business and artificial intelligence. These reviewers are typically scholars or practitioners with a track record of publications and research in the area. Authors may suggest reviewers at the time of manuscript submission.
- Blind Review Process:The journal will employ a single-blind review process, where the reviewers will be anonymous to the authors. If you prefer a double-blind process, please remove author-identifying information from your manuscript and indicate your preference for a double-blind review when you submit.
- Reviewers' Evaluation:Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and contribution to the field. They provide detailed feedback, suggestions for improvements, and a recommendation for the manuscript’s disposition (accept, revise resubmit, or reject).
- Editorial Decision:Based on the reviewers’ feedback, the editor makes a decision. If revisions are required, the manuscript is returned to the authors with comments. The revised manuscript may undergo further rounds of review.
- Final Decision and Publication:Once the manuscript meets all requirements and standards, it is accepted for publication. The final step involves copy-editing, layout formatting, and eventually, publication in the journal.
